I wasn’t looking forward to being 32. I’m still not happy about getting old but what can you do? This was a fun birthday because Friday night I was expecting to go out to dinner with Sarah to celebrate and she surprised me with a staycation in a nearby town! We slept in past 9am! Plus no one woke us up in the middle of the night.
We took our time getting home and even stopped for brunch. We even got home to no kids because my brother-in-law had taken them to see the Airplanes movie. I wanted to do the same thing I had done the previous year where each child took me on a date and did something of their choice. So the day went down about like this.
- 2-3:30pm Ice Skating with Minnie Stubz (5 year old)
- 3:45-4:15pm Pedicures with Stubbette (3 year old)
- 4:45-5:30pm Dinner at Chick-fil-a with Stubbaby (1 year old)
- 6:00-7:30pm Bowling with Stubz Jr (7 year old)
I was worn out and happy at the end of it. It really was a blast. I like taking the kids one-on-one because it is easier on me and I think the kids each had more fun even though they all wanted to go on each date. But in the end they each had their own fun that no one else got so they were okay with it.
Then after we got the kids to bed I helped Sarah assemble my birthday cake which was a challenge because the ice cream was melting. Sarah woke up early the next morning and had breakfast waiting for me consisting of our favorite pancakes, watermelon and sausage.
I am lucky to have the best wife and children in the world!
